Top 5 Services Companies To Own For 2014

Petroleum products logistics provider Buckeye Partners (NYSE: BPL  ) is out with its first-quarter earnings. It was a very solid quarter for the MLP with steady performance across its business segments. Let's take a closer look at how the company performed in three areas that I previewed as being the most important to watch.

The numbers
Buckeye beat analysts' expectations by delivering first-quarter income of $89.3 million, or $0.86 a unit, which exceeded the projection of $0.73 a unit. Revenue of $1.34 billion also beat expectations of $1.29 billion. Strong performance at Buckeye's terminal operations along with a big improvement at its energy services segment led to theexcellentperformance this quarter.

Buckeye reported distributable cash flow of $124.2 million which provided it with a coverage ratio of 1.21 times. This represented a very nice year-over-year increase to distributable cash flow which was $73.6 million last year and represented a coverage ratio just 0.78 times. Better overall business performance and the contribution from its growth projects provided a nice boost to the bottom line. The big news here is that the coverage ratio was high enough this quarter for the company to finally raise its distribution.

Striving for beauty on the outside by using beauty products can help boost your confidence and show others that you take good care of yourself. On average, Americans spend more than $400 a year on personal care products. Although cosmetics and beauty products can add up to a pretty penny, beauty doesn't need to come with a hefty price tag. Here are some tips to manage beauty on a budget. 1. Free Samples Marketers love giving out free samples so consumers have the chance to try new products and fall in love with their products. Hot European Stocks To Invest In 2014

As if the continent didn't have enough financial worries, McGraw Hill Financial's Standard & Poor's has cut its ratings on a trio of European banks. The agency notched down the long-term counterparty credit ratings for Barclays (NYSE: BCS  ) , Credit Suisse (NYSE: CS  ) , and Deutsche Bank (NYSE: DB  ) . All were reduced to "A" from the previous "A+".

In the press release announcing the news, Standard & Poor's said the chops were based on its concern about "the increasing risks that Europe's largest banking groups active in investment banking face as regulators and uncertain market conditions continue to make operating in the industry more difficult."

The news wasn't all gloomy, though. The agency removed the long-term rating on Deutsche Bank from CreditWatch, where it had been placed, with negative implications, at the end of March.

Additionally, Standard & Poor's reaffirmed its existing long- and short-term ratings on fellow European banking incumbent UBS (NYSE: UBS  ) . That bank maintains its "A" and "A-1" designations, respectively.

Advisors' Opinion:

You can see the same trends among many individual European stocks. Telecom giant Telefonica (NYSE: TEF  ) has big exposure to Latin America, but investors focus on its home country of Spain in limiting its gains. The same trend has affected French oil giant Total (NYSE: TOT  ) , which shares the same exposure to energy projects around the world yet has been tarnished by its proximity to the crisis-ridden continent. By focusing on value rather than perception, you can get some great values when others are being irrational.

Working with incomplete information is something markets are used to, though, despite the volatility that it can produce. AT&T (NYSE: T  ) posted minimal gains after Spain's Telefonica (NYSE: TEF  ) denied rumors that AT&T was looking to buy out the European telecom giant. With its already massive position in the U.S. wireless market, AT&T will have to look abroad for substantial growth opportunities. With Telefonica having chosen to cut its dividend temporarily in order to reallocate capital, a buyout might have been good news for its shareholders; Telefonica stock is up 3.5% despite its denial. Still, given the amount of money involved -- $93 billion, according to one report -- it would take a massive commitment to get the deal done.

Best Cheapest Stocks For 2014

The S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC  ) has never been higher; in fact, if you had invested in March 2009 -- the Great Recession's market bottom -- you'd be looking at a 150% return in just over four years. That might make you think stocks are too expensive, but if you look at a few individual companies in the S&P 500, that's not necessarily the case.

One way to measure whether a stock is "cheap" is by its price tag. That's not the best measure, though; it's highly influenced by how many shares a company has outstanding. A different metric to use is a company's price-to-earnings ratio. This tells you how much a stock is worth, relative to how much money its company made over the past year. Right now, the average S&P 500 stock trades for a P/E of 19.3.

But even when we find companies with low P/E ratios, it doesn't necessarily mean they're a good investment -- these stocks could be trading cheaply for a reason. To dig deeper, let's investigate the five cheapest stocks in the S&P 500.

Nearest Resistance: $84br>Nearest Support: $72br>Catalyst: Technical Setup

Facebook (FB) was another big technology name that corrected hard for technical reasons in Monday's session. Like many other tech names, Facebook has been bouncing its way higher in a well-defined uptrending channel since the start of the summer -- and Monday's pullback puts shares back within grabbing distance of trend line support for the fifth time in the channel.

The 50-day moving average has been a good proxy for support on the way up. If you decide to buy the bounce in FB here, I'd recommend putting a protective stop on the other side of that 50-day./p>
